About Our Community
On The Brink is an intentional cohousing community in Nether Edge, Sheffield. Our community is multi-generational and based on companionship, ecological awareness and mutual respect for each other. We aim to engage with the wider community and other cohousing groups in promoting ideas of community and sustainability, including generating and supporting local events. Take a look at our event listings on Eventbrite.
The space
Residents of On The Brink have their own individual homes and there is also communal space for cooking, eating, gardening, meeting, relaxing and having fun together. The buildings of the cohousing community sit within 1.5 acres of grounds including some wild land, a vegetable garden, a large enclosed garden and some impressive and unusual trees.
In early 2021 we completed the second phase of our project which was the construction of several new properties on site. In total we are now 26 members, from primary school age to mid-70s. Meet some of our members.
The neighbourhood
Nether Edge is a popular residential area with plenty of facilities and good public transport links to central Sheffield. It is one of the many interesting and leafy areas of Sheffield, with a short drive or walk up Porter Brook through Endcliffe Park to the Peak District.
